The Pleiades are a cluster of stars 444 light years from earth. They are the closest star cluster to our planet and are easily visible to the naked eye during the winter months. The Pleiades have many names...M44, The Seven Sisters, or Subaru in Japanese. Take a look at the Subaru logo...now you'll understand the star reference! This image is generated from a composite of 12 hours of exposure time (360 separate images) over three nights in November 2023. While the wispy dust clouds illuminated by these bright stars aren't normally visible to the naked eye, it's pretty cool to see their glow after 12 hours of exposure time!
